Ideal for the Practicing Reservoir Simulation Engineer

This book was referred to me by a colleague at work. The author provides not only very useful examples, but also the appropriate discussion on the governing principles at work (e.g. waterflooding frontal advance with and without accounting for gravitational effects). In addition, the book is accompanied by a simple reservoir simulator where many of the same exercises can be reproduced. Most importantly, the author stresses the importance of starting with the most basic model to solve your engineering problem. More often than not, a material balance equation may be the solution.
My only dislike is how much emphasis the author places on solutions to diffusivity equations. Sure, the mathematics is important. But lengthy discussion may be irrelevant. All in all, this is a great book, even if for desk reference.

Useless

Tried reading this book in order to learn something. Impossible! Equations given without physical meaning, or the explanation of the physical meaning is obscure. Quantities appearing in equations undefined. Abbreviations of units unexplained. References cited in supprot of trivial statements. Someone who does not know the field will not be able to use this book. Those who do will not need it. So what is the use of this?
